HKG 2018 – Panoramas

One of the reasons, why I wanted to visit Hong Kong so much, have been the fascinating photographs of the skyline and urban architecture. And when I finally spent NYE 2018 in Hong Kong (blog post), one of my top to-do’s was to take HKG 2018 – Panoramas.

My target was to photograph the Hong Kong Island skyline. So I went in-front of the Hong Kong Culture Centre in Kowloon to take my pictures. It is directly at the Harbour and next to the Avenue of Stars, which was under under renovation at that time. Plus nearly opposite to the iconic HKG Convention Centre:

The HKG 2018 – Panoramas, have been my first panorama shooting. But definitely not my last one.
What I find so fascinating (and especially with Hong Kong), is how the skyline itself gets part of the landscape. I mean that it looks so much naturally integrated into the overall environment. Like nature has grown it, together with the hills and the harbour. Despite all the concrete, glas, steel, lights etc., it is made off.
Might be it is because of the distance, might be because of the colours and lights. For me it is more about when a city itself is getting a living organism. Hong Kong is definitely one of those places. Streets and walkways going through skyscrapers, people movements like fish swarms in between a coral rief, etc. – Hong Kong has it all!

You can find more of my HKG pictures here: cityscapes, streetscapes, working streets, nightlife.

Yours
Sven Michael
