Rome 2014

If your passion is photographing modern cities (see about me), you must also have visited the Eternal City! In 2014 I made this dream become true and Rome welcomed me with sunshine, extremely friendly and nice people and a lot to discover!
Perfect conditions, compared to the autumn rainy weather at home, to stroll around and take some Streetscapes.

You can also find some of them in the following galleries: Streetscapes | Nightlife | Waiting for the Train.

I was very much impressed by two experiences. The first one was how much power the Vatican has, simply through the art and knowledge the Vatican is owning. If they would close just one library, the knowledge of minimum one century is gone. And they’re having plenty of such libraries. The same with the art pictures hanging around there. Most probably they could wipe out an entire art genre if they would like to do so. (Btw, talking here about the Vatican, I highly recommend to watch the movie “The 2 Popes” ()!)
The second one was how active and modern the people are in between all these amazing old stones. I’ve never witnessed so many demonstrations in the streets over just one weekend.

I didn’t have a lot of time for visiting museums. Rome 2014 was much more about sightseeing the ancient attractions. Nevertheless and luckily I’ve made it to the “MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts” (). I’ve added for your inspiration it’s Twitter feed at the end of this blog post.
